Frequently Asked QuestionsCANCELATION POLICY
Ski Challenge rarely cancels or postpones races. In severe weather, only team captains should contact the office. Updates will be posted on the website and Facebook.
If the ski area is open and lifts are running, races will be held. Each racer decides for themselves whether to participate. Results will not be changed due to weather or course conditions.
If a race is cancelled, Ski Challenge and the ski area will attempt to reschedule it or run a double race. If a race cannot be made up, refunds are not available once the season has begun.
NO REFUNDS DUE TO CANCELLATIONS.
INJURIES
If you’re injured before the season begins and can’t race after you’ve already paid, please reach out to the office—we’re happy to help you sort things out.
If you’re injured during the season and can’t continue, you’re welcome to find a replacement to take over your spot for the rest of the season. Your replacement will pay you directly; Ski Challenge does not handle or transfer these payments.
Because many of our costs are paid upfront, we’re unable to offer refunds once the season has started.
REFUNDS
Ski Challenge does not issue refunds once the season has begun. If you can’t continue racing, you may “sell” your spot to a replacement. Your replacement must check in at the Ski Challenge registration table for the change to be recorded. Ski Challenge does not sell spots on a per‑week basis. NO REFUNDS for cancellations, missed races, or weather‑related issues.
CAPTAINS
As a captain, you are responsible for:
- Submitting a team deposit by September 15 to hold your spot
- Filling your team with 10 racers
- Ensuring all racers register and pay on time
- Submitting your preferred running order
- Keeping your team informed of rules, updates, and important information
- Communicating any cancellations or schedule changes
- Signing your team up for Championships at Giants Ridge
Existing Team
If you are an existing team, watch for an email in July inviting captains to reserve their team spot for the upcoming season by registering and paying a deposit. The deposit equals the cost of one team spot, is non‑refundable, and covers your individual spot on the team for the season. Existing teams have first priority for their current race series. However, if a deposit is not received by September 15, your spot may be released. Any existing team spot not reserved by October 31 will be eliminated.
New Team
If you want to form a new team, contact the Ski Challenge Office to be added to the captain’s email list. New teams may join any race series with available space. Some series may be full unless an existing team does not return. Call 952‑894‑9220 or email info@skichallenge.com to get started.
Wait List
If you need additional racers for your team, check the Wait List. This list includes individuals looking to join a team.

What does the fee cover for Regular Season Racing?
Your fee covers all race administration, including your T‑shirt, uniform/bib, two timed runs per race (more for bonus leagues), scoring and awards at each race, trophies and medals at the final league race, door‑prize opportunities, result newsletters, weekly updated scores on the website, timing and results software, lane rental and ski area race fees, team photo, and all event staffing, planning, and administration.
Please note that your fee does not fully cover these costs—Ski Challenge subsidizes expenses with sponsorship funds. Fees are not charged or credited on a per‑race basis, and they include far more than the racing itself.
NO REFUNDS on race fees.
Lift tickets are not included and must be purchased from the participating ski area to access the hill.
RULES
To see a complete list of the Ski Challenge Rules, follow the link below:
RULESSCORING
Ski Challenge uses both team and individual scoring based on handicap numbers. A handicap reflects the percentage you are slower than the par time set by a pace‑setter.
For full scoring details, follow the link below:
PACESETTING
The Pacesetter for each run in each race will be someone participating in the race who has achieved a Pacesetter number. Follow the link below for more information, including the pacesetter list and points.
More Pacesetting InformationGUEST RACING
You may guest race two times per regular‑season league for a $15 fee. We recommend registering and paying online at least two hours before course inspection. If that’s not possible, you can sign up and pay at the hill.
Follow this link to register: GUEST REGISTRATION.
If you want to race more than twice in a specific league and there are open team spots, you’ll need to join the league. If the entire league is full, you may guest race more than twice.
On the day of your guest race, check in at the registration table up to one hour before inspection. You’ll receive a temporary bib and may race anywhere in the order—please slot in between teams, as league teams consist of 10 numbers.
