NASTAR Update

The following is an e-mail we received from NASTAR.  We are hoping that things will get back to “normal” soon!

We at the USSA want to thank you again for your patience with the challenges we have encountered with the NASTAR scoring systems this season. We have been working diligently to provide a system for NASTAR that supports the participants and all of you. I’m happy to announce that we have now formed a partnership with Global Reach Sports (GRS), the longtime supplier of NASTAR and ski racing scoring technology, to ensure that NASTAR resorts have an excellent, proven and stable platform and that NASTAR participants can easily follow their results and rankings.

Our joint objective with the partnership is to not only provide a stable platform, but to also grow and further improve the overall NASTAR experience including live results and mobile functionality. Our partnership with GRS will provide these things and more as we evolve into the future.

We anticipate quick changes as we merge into the GRS NASTAR system, with scoring systems for resorts and race leagues and full integration of all past and present results into a single ranking system. At the same time, GRS will merge its Race The Gates product and re-scored results into the NASTAR solution and brand. All U.S. Race The Gates participants will be eligible to qualify for the NASTAR Nationals.

GRS has already begun integrating systems, we will jointly keep NASTAR resort administrators informed of our progress. Current systems can continue to be used as we complete the transition – estimating about 10 days. The NASTAR team with GRS will be sending its first technical update this coming Wednesday, February 10 detailing next steps with the software and results system rollout.

NASTAR racers just enjoyed a very successful Eastern Regional Championships at Okemo. The Midwestern Regional Championships are coming up in a few weeks at Welch Village. And we are about to issue our invitations to NASTAR racers to attend this year’s National Championships at Steamboat Springs March 24-27.

We expect a large group of NASTAR participants at the popular Colorado resort, including both current and past stars of the U.S. Ski Team. Because of the scoring challenges, we will be inviting all of last year’s qualifiers, as well as those from this season.

Thank you again for your patience as we work through this quick transition. We are excited to be partnering with GRS and moving NASTAR forward together with great solutions and innovations for our resorts and participants.

2016 Team Championship Divisions Set

Divisions have been set for our Team Championships at Giants Ridge.  We still have some teams that are undecided.  Some teams will not have full teams of 10 and some divisions have quite a few duplicate racers.  So, the total amount of teams per division will not reflect the total amount of racers.

LIST BY DIVISION

DIVISIONS LIST OF ALL TEAMS

Running orders and seeding of teams in each division will come out after Week 7 racing is complete.

Hyland Saturday League Cancelled

The Hyland Saturday league which was scheduled to start January 9th is cancelled due to lack of registrations.  Unfortunately, only one team registered for the league.  In order to have a league, we need at least four teams.

We are disappointed and sorry that this can’t happen this year.  If you were thinking of joining the Hyland league, please check out our other leagues offered at Buck Hill and Wild Mountain.  You can find information for these leagues here:  SKI CHALLENGE LEAGUES

Wild Mountain Wednesday Canceled

Wild Mountain Wednesday, December 9th is canceled.  Wild Mountain is closing for the day.  We will have Week 2 on December 16th.  We are working with Wild Mountain to schedule week 3.  We are tentatively scheduling it for Wednesday, December 23.

We will probably move the Wild Mountain Pacesetter Trials to Wednesday, December 23 also.
