Joe’s has a rich history dating back to 1930, when Joseph J. Rauscher began the business as a Buick repair garage. Many customers needed live bait, so Joe started selling minnows, and the garage soon became known as Joe’s Live Bait. After World War II, the business began to grow even more. On August 1, 1959, Joseph J. Rauscher sold the store to his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph D. and Loretta J. Rauscher, who added the ski business in October 1963. Over the years, the store expanded multiple times — in 1965, 1969, 1972, 1976, and 1989.
In August 2003, Joe’s opened their current location at 33 East County Rd B, closing the Dale St. store at the same time. By 2007, they launched their online store to serve customers nationwide. Today, the store is owned by Joseph H. Rauscher, son of Joe and Loretta, continuing the family legacy.
Joe’s has been a longtime supporter of Ski Challenge since the program’s beginnings.
